What's your take on the character of Squall Leonhart in FF VIII?

Squall Leonhart is the main character in the Final Fantasy VIII, he is young at 17 years of age but is considered to be a cold focused mercenary. His favorite weapon known as the gunblade is one of the phenomenal weapons ever used by any playable character in all the FF games.

But Squall Leonhart has a personality problem of being an introvert, taciturn and cold, whom is very much inclined in pushing people away from him. This is the main flaw that I could point out in the character of Squall. Although he never for once slacked in discharging his duties, he was very good at that, as he was later appointed the Commander of Balamb Garden.

Yes you are correct there in mentioning about how caring and affectionate he was towards Rinoa. As much as he was a cold mean guy with tough personality, he really loved Rinoa so much that he could do almost anything for her.

I haven't play the game ff8 yet but I've seen a lot of videos and informations about this nice game and I play Dissidia Final fantasy and I see Squall's ability as well as his appearance and attitude. I see Squall as a cool and quiet soldier. I like the way he kills his enemies and his hair looks cool. His weapon Gunblade was very unique and classy. Overall, it is so nice to have Squall in the Final Fantasy series.

Squall Leonhart was no Cloud Strife but he was a pretty cool character. He was a genuinely cool loner. He wasn't the type of person who would mask his opinions just to please others. But he was also a bit annoying, somewhat difficult to be around and also probably knew that about himself.

One of the things I liked about FF8 was the growth we see in Squall. He starts caring for his friends and showing emotion. He grows to love Rinoa(that ballroom dance scene was fab, even if it wasn't necessarily the point where Squall started having feelings for her). That change was just beautiful to watch. P.S the gunblade helps too.

I would say if you could describe yourself as a cold focused mercenary then you would automatically be one of my favorites. He is up there with some of the better ones for me.

I think Squall Leonhart in Final Fantasy 8, is a very aloof character and a lot of this may because he grew up without his parents or could not remember them, and his sister was taken away when he was much younger also. I do understand Squall Leonhart's loner mentality, when you take a look at his childhood though ?

I quite liked him as a stand-offish loner, and honestly I would have preferred if he stayed that way ( since he was simply cooler that way, imo ). But it was quite obvious early-on that he would change, as we got hints of why he acted the way he did.

Just like everyone else said, I really loved his loner attitude. You could tell he cared about Rinoa deep down. I honestly wish he never changed during the story, I liked him the way he was at the beginning of everything. He Looked like one of those cold and focused killers.

Squall is my all time favorite LC, compared to all the protagonists from all the other Final Fantasy series, he has had the most character development. He went from being a loner to actually being social with the rest of the crew.

I am Squall's greatest fan because I like his attitude. His silence in being a loner and introvert speaks about his maturity and his past life. His childhood without parents and his silence make sense to me.

I can understand his role very well because I am also like Squall, a loner, staying away from unwanted people and loving and caring towards the loved ones. Squall Leonhart loves Rinoa and cares for her. If he is not of his attitude, then he would have never loved a girl like Rinoa.
