Could be places you'd like to live in or visit irl or just plain like for whatever reason (like the WoR for being dark).

My own personal favorites are:

  • Alexandria (IX): I love every single FFIX location (notably Lindblum, Treno, Cleyra) but this takes the cake. I know it's a simple medieval city but that's exactly why I love it. It filled me with nostalgia even the first time I played the game.

  • Balamb Garden (FFVIII): My childhood dream. Living on a flying base surrounded by friends and trained to be a soldier? Hot dogs and card games every day? Sign me up!

  • Macalania Woods (FFX): The mystical forest, the crystals, the lake, the butterflies. It's the most enchanting fictional location I've ever seen.

  • Altissia (FFXV): Venice. On drugs. Endless exploration. What's not to love?

  • Gold Saucer (FFVII): Another childhood dream of mine, for obvious reasons.

  • Castle Pandemonium (II), Ultimecia's Castle (VIII): Most badass final dungeons imo.

  • Zanarkand (X): The definition of "dream city".
Honorable mention to the City of the Ancients (VII) for its haunting, incredibly sad theme. Like listening to the Ancients themselves warning you of what's to come.

I gotta second you on the hot dogs and card games all day. Not too far off from reality maybe a few decades ago or so.

One of my latest favorite locations is Zanarkand: the ruined city. Though everything that the city displays is the dead and degraded remnants for a thousand years, I still feel a thrill while passing through its every location. The campsite, the road Zanarkand and the dome: all of them have been crafted with great accuracy and realism. The architecture is great and gives a royal ancient feel.

FFXV: The city of Insomnia. I like how it looks and its architecture, in some ways reminds me of the city I live in. Too bad we got to it in such a state, and it wasn't really explorable.

I would say Macalania and the entire Lake Macalania region- the lake and the snow around there is quite beautiful and the woods as well. The journey to the Macalania Temple is nice, and the temples of Yevon are made mostly of ice and sit atop frozen Lake Macalania.

My favorite location has to be Wall Market. There's a huge wall here that is actually used to climb above the Midgar plate and straight to Shinra Headquarters

Well, this might be a little bit cheating since Midgar isn't technically a level, but I felt the need to showcase just how awesome of a location it is. The Final Fantasy games have a lot of fantastic and memorable places, but to me, Midgar is the series' crowning achievement.

I like Altissia from Final Fantasy XV. I like that it's kind of modeled around Venice's Great Canal. I like the atmosphere that it gives the players and it just feels like it is the calm before the great storm. I also like the music in Altissia's hotel. :)

My favorite location in the Final Fantasy game is Macalania Woods in FFX. The nature of the mystical forest, the crystals, the lake, the butterflies is a place that I would always want to be in any day and anytime. Magical places gives thrills and Macalania Woods is the most enchanting fictional location I've ever seen.

My favourite location is Hope of the Celestial Capital, Al' Taieus' crystal-esque design and mesmerizing glow causes us to really take a moment and drink it in( Final Fantasy XI).
