Everyone knows how Final Fantasy 7 opens....it's one of the most iconic cutscenes in all of gaming. A lot of space, Aerith's face, Loveless Square, in the air, city shot, train wheels hot, soldiers' fear, now Cloud's here.

So you might think there are no real surprises in the video Square published on Valentine's Day, which is the entire opening cutscene from Final Fantasy 7 Remake....especially since we already saw it in the demo footage that leaked out last month. That's where you're wrong...turns out the demo purposely cut a scene before Aerith even appeared.

See it in the press release below.

LOS ANGELES (Feb. 14, 2020) – SQUARE ENIX® today revealed the opening cinematic movie for one of the year’s most highly anticipated games, FINAL FANTASY® VII REMAKE. The footage showcases the gorgeous visuals of the eclectic city of Midgar, backed by newly orchestrated, breath-taking music. In FINAL FANTASY VII REMAKE, players will be drawn into a world where Shinra Electric Power Company, a shadowy corporation, controls the planet’s very life force. Cloud Strife, a former member of Shinra’s elite SOLDIER unit now turned mercenary, lends his aid to an anti-Shinra organization calling themselves Avalanche.

Additionally, fans will get to experience the breath-taking music from FINAL FANTASY VII REMAKE live during the recently announced Orchestra World Tour starting in Los Angeles this June. Vocalist Yosh, will also appear at the June 14th concert to perform the theme song for the remake, “Hollow.” Further concerts will take place in San Francisco, Fort Worth, Atlanta, Phoenix, New York, Chicago, Denver, Nashville and Boston with more dates and cities to be announced soon. The concerts will feature music from the game’s soundtrack performed by a majestic orchestra and full chorus, all conducted by GRAMMY®-Award winner Arnie Roth known for his work on Distant Worlds: music from FINAL FANTASY. For more concert and ticketing information, visit: http://ffvii-remakeconcerts.com/.

FINAL FANTASY VII REMAKE is a reimagining of the iconic original game that re-defined the RPG genre, diving deeper into the world and its characters than ever before. The first game in the project will be set in the city of Midgar and presents a fully standalone gaming experience that provides a great starting point to the series. Along with unforgettable characters and a powerful story, FINAL FANTASY VII REMAKE features a hybrid battle system that merges real-time action with strategic, command-based combat.

The Deluxe Edition, available to pre-order now, contains a hardback art book featuring stunning concept art, a soundtrack selection CD, Summon Materia DLC allowing players to summon Cactuar in game, and a Sephiroth SteelBook® Case. The Digital Deluxe Edition contains a digital art book, a digital soundtrack selection, and Summon Materia DLC allowing players to summon Carbuncle and Cactuar in game.

Those who pre-order any version of the game will also receive the Chocobo™ Chick Summon Materia DLC at launch, while those who pre-order any digital edition from the PlayStation®Store will also receive the Cloud & Sephiroth Dynamic Theme for the PlayStation®4 system. Pre-orders of any version of FINAL FANTASY VII REMAKE from the SQUARE ENIX Store will receive an exclusive FINAL FANTASY VII REMAKE lanyard and automatically be entered for a chance to win a stunning limited-edition Sephiroth or Cloud Strife Chronograph watch.

FINAL FANTASY VII REMAKE is rated T (Teen,) and will be available for the PlayStation®4 computer entertainment system on April 10, 2020. For more information, visit: www.ffvii-remake.com

This is amazing, and they have really done wonders with Aerith's face. I think Final Fantasy VII Remake, has finally turned Midgar into a real city.

It's like an opening of a movie. Imagine how much games improved throughout the years and this is just an amazing virtual feast in the eyes. The remake's intro reminds me of the original but only better.

I feel like Final Fantasy 7 Remake is going to break records and that will partially be attributed to this very opening movie.

The people that didn't get to play the OG Final Fantasy 7 are the lucky ones here because they get to have a totally different experience. Also, I agree with you when you say that FFVII Remake is going to break records.

Those are new potential customers. Especially the people didn't play the original one are going to go crazy when FFVII Remake drops. I have a friend who has pre-ordered it on Amazon @ $59.99

The fact the remake will have classic mode for old players make it already game of the year material. This intro is a visual treat
