I believe years from now they will discontinue Final Fantasy 14. I know it still have activities but they might discontinue its support for their next multiplayer and Final Fantasy 17 might be that game. Final Fantasy VII remake and Final Fantasy XVI are both single player games and they will make a new one multiplayer game that can compete against Genshin impact.

People still play Final Fantasy 11 so I doubt Final Fantasy 14 will die even if 17 will end up being a multiplayer.
