For obvious reasons, a lot of this stuff reminds me of anime. Is anyone into it? Do you see any direct connections with anime, manga etc. with some Final Fantasy characters or stories?
The series first premiered in Japan so I guess that's why it has that anime and manga look.
Square Enix is a Japanese company and its all right in every dimension that everything about the game Final Fantasy be centered around Japanese culture. It reflected in the nature of the characters used in the game, it's location and storyline. I'm not surprised in any way that the game turned out to be in this way.
Wooah! I didn't know anything about that, it's funny how I keep learning new things about Final Fantasy every time log onto this forum. The Gay Baiting in Final Fantasy 15 is inspired from Japanese women's obsession with Gay romance. The characters are not Gay but they have a lot of Gay moments so they will get sales from Japanese women.
This is exactly my understanding of why Final Fantasy characters are made to look Japanese in appearance. It's actually selling the game well in Japan and all other parts of the world.
The headquarters of Square Enix is located at Shinjuku Eastside Square, Tokyo. The company has a massive structure where all its game developing takes place. Below is the Square Enix headquarter in Tokyo. View attachment 316
Wow, that's one giant building. I can imagine the kind of state of the art techs that would be available in that headquarters used to develop these games Square Enix produce. Remember, it's not a Final Fantasy gaming franchise that the company base on.
I don't really think we would ever have Final Fantasy without the Japanese culture. Although after FF7 SE tried eliminating some Japanese customs after people overseas started getting involved.
SE wanted every gamer all over the world to develop a deep connection with the game and I think that's why they decided to make that move.Really, Square Enix tried eliminating some Japanese culture from the Final Fantasy game franchise? I seriously didn't know about that because I feel such culture was still inherent in the game.
Not just FF but many concepts in Anime, manga, video games are originated from Japanese culture. So they do have their own touch in the art and entertainment. So that's something I too have learned through mangas and games.I don't really think we would ever have Final Fantasy without the Japanese culture.
