The barrier to entry regarding Dissidia Final Fantasy NT, Square Enix's all-star brawler, has been lowered to "nothing." A free edition of the game now exists.
So how much can you get for free? A fair amount. Free Dissidia's status is halfway between a demo and a proper game -- more content and freedom than the former, but still inferior to the latter. You have access to a handful of fighters rather than the full roster, but the lineup will shuffle around on a weekly basis.

LOS ANGELES (Mar. 12, 2019) – SQUARE ENIX® today announced that DISSIDIA® FINAL FANTASY® NT Free Edition, the unique 3-vs-3 team-based brawler is now available for free* download on the PlayStation®4 computer entertainment system and PC (via STEAM®).

DISSIDIA FINAL FANTASY NT Free Edition is packed with iconic stages and music from the entire FINAL FANTASY series, a cast of over 25 beloved characters with unique fighting styles and abilities, legendary summons that wreak destruction on the arena and much more. Available for play in both online and offline gameplay modes, players of both DISSIDIA FINAL FANTASY NT Free Edition and the full DISSIDIA FINAL FANTASY NT game can challenge each other in exhilarating fights with a weekly rotation of four unique characters from the huge roster available.
Individual characters and weapons can be optionally purchased in DISSIDIA FINAL FANTASY NT Free Edition, ensuring that players can enjoy their favorite characters even when they are no longer in rotation. Players can also purchase the full DISSIDIA FINAL FANTASY NT Digital Deluxe Edition package on PlayStation®4 and STEAM to gain access to all 34 available characters, additional cosmetic weapons and outfits, a complete cinematic story mode and more.
