A lot of new content is coming to Final Fantasy XIV when the next patch becomes available in May. The biggest addition is the continuation of the storyline in the Stormborn expansion, which adds several new scenario quests, a new dungeon and Ivalice's Ridorana Lighthouse, among other things. Square's press release has everything you need to know.

It also contains some of the first real information about the Final Fantasy XIV Companion app, which will allow you to perform several activities in the game's world from wherever you are. You can chat with friends, organize events and rearrange your inventory, put up items for sale (and buy them as well)...you can't play the actual game on your phone, but you can take care of incidental business while you're away from your console or computer.

LOS ANGELES (April 16, 2018) – The eagerly awaited next chapter of the Ivalice 24-man alliance raid series is set to arrive in FINAL FANTASY® XIV Online late this May when Patch 4.3 goes live. Titled Under the Moonlight, Patch 4.3 brings a wealth of new content to the critically acclaimed MMO and continues the thrilling story of the Stormblood® expansion.

Adventurers will also be able to explore a new dungeon, take on new trials, and can level up their crafting and gathering skills by accepting the new Namazu beast tribe quests. Details on the main contents of this patch are revealed below:
  • New Main Scenario Quests – The story of Stormblood continues.
  • New Alliance Raid – The Ridorana Lighthouse.
  • New Trial
  • New Dungeon – The Swallow’s Compass.
  • New Beast Tribe Quests – The Namazu.
  • New Sidequests – The Four Lords, Doman Reconstruction and Further Hildibrand Adventures.
  • New Deep Dungeon – 100-Floor Heaven-on-High.
  • The Forbidden Land, Eureka Expansion – Pagos Expedition.
  • New Ultimate Difficulty Raid – Ultima Weapon.
  • Updates to jobs, PvP, glamour system, housing, performance actions, new more powerful gear and more.

Additionally, alongside the contents of Patch 4.3, SQUARE ENIX ® showed a first look at the outline of the FINAL FANTASY XIV Online Companion mobile app currently in development. All players that download the app will be able to enjoy benefits such as the following:
  • Chat with friends and free company members
  • Organize events with the scheduler
  • Organize inventory and armoury chest
  • Peruse the Market Board
  • Put items up for sale and purchase items
  • Register an additional favored destination Aetheryte

An optional, Premium Plan is also available, which unlocks the following features for a monthly fee:
  • Organize Saddlebags and Retainer Inventories
  • Saddlebag capacity is doubled
  • One additional Retainer can be employed

Details of the app release date will be shared as they are confirmed.

The FINAL FANTASY XIV Online Free Trial allows new players to easily join the millions of adventurers in the realm of Eorzea™. The free trial allows anyone to access all available content up to level 35 (including the new Rival Wings PvP), create up to eight playable characters, and experience the different playable races, classes, and jobs with no restrictions on playtime. All editions of FINAL FANTASY XIV Online, including the FINAL FANTASY XIV: Stormblood™ expansion, may be purchased through the Square Enix® Online Store.

It seems they have added a lot of new content. And something people who loved the game would resume back on the game. I think the patch would surely attract the FF gamers. I am sure that it has some seasonal content on the FF14 online version too. So that those who are playing it would love the expansion.

Some gamers don't really fancy playing online because of network issues, it would be a lot nice if the game is played offline as well, I'm sure more gamers would enjoy it more.

What do you think?

You can't play an MMORPG offline, it's simply impossible. Those types of games are strictly multiplayer.
If you want single player, you can play any of the other mainline FF games ( except for FFXI, which is also an MMORPG ).

This so true.

The in game activities that comes with this game is what I love so much. Being able to chat with friends, organize events and rearrange your inventory, put up items for sale (and buy them as well) makes the game very fun to play.

This is one thing that I loved so much about this game and I'm sure that as long as the developers are making efforts to improve on this, a lot of people would be having increased interest in playing the game always.

It feels like patch Final Fantasy XIV 4.3 is taking forever to get here. With the kind of feature coming with this patch there is no way I'm missing it.

All we can do is expect a lot more better features upgrade with any anything Square Enix is bringing to the table for us because I'm quite sure they would want to offer what would ruin gamers interest in the company.

I have to say I've never seen so much additional feature on a new patch before. If it's anything I think patch 4.3 is going to be the best one so far in Final Fantasy XIV.

I'm all very impressed by the work of the company Square Enix in upgrading Final Fantasy games so far, taking it to Dissidia level with incredible features, they are definitely doing a lot of work to make the game very competitive.

It's coming out in May. Plenty of good games to play in the meantime.

Yeah I know what you mean. That happened to me with FFXV and Skyrim. I was thinking about them almost every day until release.

Yeah, when we are anxious to get something it seems to be taking longer. May is just around the corner, so we will be playing it before we know it.

It's true what you said about the features that came with this patch of the game, Square Enix has done very well with the upgrades they are fixing up the game with just to give gamers a better gaming experience.

It's just roughly two weeks away, so it's pretty much closer and our wait would be over which is followed up by our enjoyment in full.

Well once I settle my mind into something, it's pretty danm hard to go back into it.

New upgrades always tend to make most people itchy for its release especially when the developing company have always been good when it comes to offering better and impressive upgrades.

And the funny thing is when you tend to wait for it this long, it always seems as if the time doesn't move at, just like a snail walk.
