It just got easier to create mods in the PC version of Final Fantasy XV...simple ones, at least.
Square's new Final Fantasy Windows Edition Mod Organizer lets those who are new to the mod scene go wild. The Mod Organizer is built to perform basic mods like texture and model swaps, but can't produce more involved mods like creating entirely new models for use. It will, however, import models from 3D modelling software as long as they were saved in the FBX format.

LOS ANGELES (June 7, 2018) – SQUARE ENIX® today released the FINAL FANTASY XV® WINDOWS EDITION MOD ORGANIZER for STEAM®, Origin® and Windows 10, for the first time giving players the freedom to explore their creativity and customize the appearance of characters, weapons and outfits in the game.
The MOD ORGANIZER allows players to convert art assets into mod data and incorporate them into the game world*. By replacing existing models and their textures, players can change the appearances of Noctis, Prompto, Gladiolus and Ignis, as well as the supporting cast, including the likes of Ardyn and Aranea, and the non-playable-characters met throughout their adventure.
Aside from characters’ physical appearances, character outfits and costumes can also be replaced with new designs. Weapons can also be modded, with the freedom to create brand new weapons and set their parameters. To ensure in-game balance, new weapons have a 100-point distribution system to define each weapon’s abilities and performance across parameters such as Attack, Max HP, MP, Vitality and resistance to elemental magic.
The MOD ORGANIZER update also features pre-packaged sample 3D models for the fast replacement of costumes and weapons and more advanced customisation tools for maximum creativity, designed to be easy for beginners to use.
To download the MOD ORGANIZER for Windows and Origin, please visit: MOD TOOLS | FFXV WINDOWS EDITION | SQUARE ENIX. For STEAM, the MOD ORGANIZER is added to Tools on the STEAM Launcher.
*MOD ORGANIZER does not have the functionality for creating and editing assets such as 3D models. Assets can be created with 3D design software and outputted in FBX format to the Mod Organizer.
