First gameplay video of the remake

Based from this video, You are given a freedom on which character control. So if you don't like Cloud, you can make another character the leader. Cloud will still be the main character and focal character but you have freedom to make someone else the "main character" when it comes to gameplay. As you see The player is maining Tifa while Squall and Aerith are AI. Its nice to see the love triangle working well as a team. You can switch character at will with a push of a button.

So there is a button that switches the main character while the other 2 will become AI. This is interesting, I can have the strategy of switching characters if the character I control got injured, so I will always be in control of a fresh and undamaged character. Since most likely monsters will prioritize the one you control.

The gameplay reminds me a big of Final Fantasy XV and Resident evil Revelations 2 because you have A.i partners that helps you during the fight but it's the active character you control who does more damage to the enemy. They managed to figure out how to make the A.I more useful and less annoying. A.I partners do have tendency to a liability because they are not reliable against enemies at all in the past games I had played. I don't want the A. I to be too smart too because because it will make the game too easy.

I just hope the teammate AI won't be too dumb nor too smart. If they are too smart the game will be too easy and if they are too dumb it will be annoying.

How awkward it is to see 2 women in love with the same man and all three of them works as a team. It's a bizarre love triangle.

Yeah They need to find a balance between that because I have a very bad experience with team mates with bad AI. You will lose your patience because they kept on dying or wasting resources or If the AI is too smart you won't have fun neither. You will feel that you will lose control if your AI is too powerful. That might be enjoyable to people who are terrible with games but not the average player. I never used gameshark during the PS1 era.

It plays exactly like Final Fantasy XV, It is the gameplay that is familiar for the modern fans so I respect their decision. At least the Boomer fans can still have their classic mode. Everyone is going to be happy because they are given options on how they want to play the game. Most remake games disrespects the older fans but Square Enix decided to not be lazy and do the right thing to keep both sides happy. No one is left out.

People who have a huge dislike for Final Fantasy XV won't be happy for the direction the remake goes but it's a great consolation for them that they are given the classic option.

I am sure Square Enix will make sure it is completely balance. They listen to fans much better than the other video game companies.

This is a UI comparison between the remake and the original. We've come a long way my friends! The improvement is amazing and they kept the blue color to give nod to the original. It is also more minimalist compared to the original.
