Remember back at the dawn of the new year when footage from what was definitely a Fial fantasy 7 Remake demo started appearing? We're still not certain how those people obtained early access to it, but now they're not alone. The demo became accessible on the Playstation Store Monday morning.

As everyone expected, the demo’s contents are strikingly similar to the original Final Fantasy 7 demo Square issued out with the Playstation release of Tobal No. 1 back in 1997. It encompasses the first mission in the game, the demolition of Mako Reactor #1, but throws in a few new twists.

Square's press release has more.

LOS ANGELES (March 2, 2020) – In anticipation of the April 10th launch of FINAL FANTASY® VII REMAKE, SQUARE ENIX® announced today that PlayStation owners across the globe can now get their hands on a playable demo for the game. Available to download now from the PlayStation®Store, the demo allows players to experience first-hand the opening chapter from the game, and the events of the iconic Mako Reactor 1 bombing mission. In addition, those who download the demo before May 11, 2020 will also receive an exclusive PlayStation®4 theme when the full game launches next month.

In FINAL FANTASY VII REMAKE, players will be drawn into a world where the Shinra Electric Power Company, a shadowy corporation, controls the planet’s very life force. Cloud Strife, a former member of Shinra’s elite SOLDIER unit now turned mercenary, lends his aid to an anti-Shinra organization calling themselves Avalanche. The first game in the project is set in the city of Midgar, and is a fully standalone gaming experience designed for RPG players that crave unforgettable characters, a powerful story and the ability to choose their style of play with a battle system that merges thrilling real-time action with strategic, command-based combat.

FINAL FANTASY VII REMAKE is rated T (Teen) and will be available for the PlayStation®4 computer entertainment system on April 10, 2020. The FINAL FANTASY VII REMAKE Demo is available to download now for the PlayStation®4 system at: http://sqex.link/FF7RDemo. For more information, visit: www.ffvii-remake.com

The demo is the 1st hour of the game! The intro and you will get to play as Cloud and Barret. Final Fantasy XV can go with Normal and easy while oldschool fans can go for classic mode.

I hope Jessie can be a party member! I love her personality and I feel she have chemistry with Cloud. I never played the original but I enjoyed the remake demo.

After the bossfight, the demo is over. I was begging for more. I can't wait for the full version. I wonder if the full version will make changes from the demo.

I played through Final Fantasy 7 Remake to the second for the second amazing time. I love how it feels like a modern FF7, with a dash of FF13 and KH elements, all with original production values. It still stokes me that we are so close to this game.

I can't believe a game I use to dream about during Ps2 era is now real.

The pacing is just magical and epic.It makes me ask for more. That is how amazing the experience I have with it. I really have fun and the flow is really smooth as I go for one opponent after another. I like the teamwork between Cloud and Barret and I can't wait to play the other team members like Tifa and the others.

I wonder if the final version of the game will make changes on the events from the demo. I mean this demo may not reflect the final product will be. The plot wont change but the order of ingame events and the type on enemies we encounter might change. Their voice acting is not how I imagined them back then.

I am so tempted to spoil you... but I am stopping myself.

Yes Most demos don't really reflect the final version but this demo really reminds me of the first hour of the original.

Most likely in the final version of the game, this first segment of the game will be way longer. I can see them expanding and altering the map. Demos do not reflect the final version of the game at all. I played so many demos in my lifetime.
