Defeating Penance or Dark Anima Without Zanmato

Has anyone here beat the Dark Aeon Anima or Penance without using Zanmato? I beat the other Dark Aeons without relying on Yojimbo, but these two were way beyond me. I couldn't stand the grind anymore and had to resort to Zanmato.

I used zanmato too. I think it's possible to do it without using Yojimbo, but it would require a lot of grinding and a pretty good strategy. I know using zanmato looks kind of cheap, but in those cases, the grinding just gets tedious and there's no shame in using it.

But it stops being an achievement in that case, kinda like how you can brag how you defeated an uber boss but you freaking cheated.
