Getting past the earlier versions of FFXI may be a little annoying. Once you get through some levels and get to level 99 the game gets much faster and I guess that's a major improvement in the game. The menus keep popping up and it was a bit annoying for me. It is not a game you should play for the gameplay or the graphics but for the story. I personally played it for the storyline. The music on FFXI is amazing.

The music in the game makes it more enjoyable than before. However, I have not played the old version of this game. The game is looking very interesting by your words.I will definitely give it a chance in a few next days.

I've never tried this game, but you have made me a little bit curious. The soundtrack is great, I've heard that everywhere, but what about the game itself? Does it feel dated nowadays? I've also heard that it was mostly online, is it like XIV? Does it have a good story? I really want to know.

Everyone praises the soundtrack and that is what I am looking forwad to listening when I final play the game. It seems like the earlier days when the game was new, everyone was experiencing problems with it. I still feel the original version was good and old gamers are lucky to experience it.

Now the game has undergone series of updates and I know I won't find much complaints from the current reviews.

Final fantasy 11 was good though not in terms of the pace at earlier points. As you have seen the game picks up the speed at the later parts. And that in itself makes it slow or fast in it's own ways. I personally think that people who are looking for better gaming experience can take a look at this series for pure brutal gaming once the pace picks up. Something very few games these days are doing.

As compared to FFIX, FFXI is less captivating. But the good thing with it is the music. I am not saying the game is bad, it is very good, but I don't enjoy it so much as compared to other FF games.

I agree that even though the graphics were nice, the game play was rather weak.

This is probably my least favorite FF game. Storyline was pretty boring imo and I didn't like the characters either. Decent soundtrack though.

That is true at the time the game is getting faster and this is awesome, the music makes me more concentrated to the game, but the levels are really hard to pass as you move on, this is a real challenge!

I will have to agree with you on this. Compared to FFIX, FFXI is not interesting. On its own, it is a fine game though. FFIX made a name for itself because of its plot and characters. I don't think comparing the two will do us much good. Both games are awesome and I would rather have both of them than choose one.

A lot of people seem to forget that the plot make the game.

I disagree. Plot is important, yes, but the gameplay is far more important. Even in FF games.
The only game where I have actually suffered through mostly abysmal gameplay to see the plot through was Deadly Premonition, and that was one-of-a-kind game.

Well I would say just have them both but I guess maybe you automatically sway from one as you focus on the other. These days you have to have strong gameplay to hold attention, for me at least.

True. But I'm not an old school gamer and still like it a whole lot. But I like games such as WOW as well so it might be that, haha!

Such as? Can you give any examples? The only "old" game I like is LoL, which isn't really that old after all the updates et cetera...

You see, I'm not a fan of Cod 4 as the graphics are pretty bad, same with GTA SA - in which case I prefer GTA 5.
