Final Fantasy NES game review

The one and only Final Fantasy NES game has become legendary. Do I have what it takes to tackle this giant? Well, not right now. But if I spend a few boring hours circling town, engaging in lesser video-game battles until my party's experience and money is great enough, then I might just stand a chance!

I think Final Fantasy is mostly filler. It's not a bad game, but it just feels artificially long! You spend so much time wandering around looking for fights against the same monsters (occasionally in different color schemes) over and over. I'll admit that the use of the pirate ship is cool, and this is definitely a step up from Dragon Warrior, but RPGs still had a long way to go.

Final Fantasy III (in the US) is probably the last Final Fantasy I will ever actually love. Final Fantasy X was pretty good. But they all suffer from the same grinding issue. Some players like that in a NIntendo game, but not me. I like to keep my NES collection grind-free.

Anyway, here's my review and rant: Final Fantasy NES review - Retro Reviews
